Open Streets Woodstock
Join the movement and enjoy Woodstock Main Road as a public space on Sunday 23 February 2020. Street closed to cars and open to opportunity from 09h00 – 14h00. Participants are encouraged to walk, cycle, skate, play, dance, explore and connect with neighbours, friends and family.
Open Streets aims to create shared spaces that help bridge the social and spatial divides in Cape Town, and encourage us all to think differently about how we move around the city.

Visit The V&A Waterfront
The V&A Waterfront is a shopping destination as well as a working harbour. Covering 123 hectares (think: 180 rugby fields), the V&A Waterfront is divided up into five shopping districts: Victoria Wharf, the Watershed, The Alfred Mall and Pierhead, The Clock Tower, and Breakwater Point. With more than 450 stores, you’ll find everything from local designers to big international brands. For crafts and local talent, make sure you pop into the Watershed, and, if it’s art or jewellery you’re after, head over to The Alfred Mall and Pierhead. It also plays host to The Two Oceans Aquarium, Chavonnes Battery Museum, the Springbok Experience Rugby Museum etc.

Explore The Cape Point Nature Reserve
Rugged rocks and sheer cliffs towering more than 200 metres above the sea and cutting deep into the ocean, provide a spectacular background for the Park’s rich bio-diversity. Cape Point falls within the southern section of Table Mountain National Park. The natural vegetation of the area, fynbos, comprises the smallest but richest of the world’s six floral kingdoms. The scenic beauty of Cape Point is not its sole allure; it is also an international icon of great historical interest with many a visitor drawn to the area because of its rich maritime history.

Homestead Of Perpetuity

WPCC will this year host their 2nd Wine Festival. Set on the Wally Wilson oval, we cannot ask for a better view and setting for a day out with fellow members, family and friends. Never let anyone onto/into your property unless you have specified the person expected, as well as the expected time of arrival. Please remember this: it is important to stay calm. No material possession is worth risking injury for.
Advice from South Africa Police Services (SAPS):
Reporting tips in order of importance:
- Car Number Plates: Focus on letters and first 3 numbers. Don’t worry about all 6 numbers – accurate letters and first 3 numbers are all we need.
- Note the exact time on your cell and watch. This makes a HUGE difference to our workload.
- Vehicle Type: Make and colour is fine (e.g. Silver Merc).
- Write it all down as quickly as possible, or enter onto your phone. Memories are often unreliable!
- Contact your service provider/SAPS, and let us know by email.
Vehicle safety tips from ADT:
Here are some useful vehicle safety tips received this week from ADT:
- Travel with car doors locked and windows closed.
- Constantly monitor vehicles travelling behind, ahead and next to you.
- If you think you’re being followed, drive to the nearest police station. Don’t go home.
- Leave room between your car and the one in front to avoid being boxed in.
- Attract the attention of other drivers or pedestrians if you think you’re in danger.
- Hoot, flash your lights, put on your emergency lights, or shout.
- Be aware of people approaching your car or loitering near traffic lights, stop signs, parking areas or your driveway.
- If approached by a suspicious-looking person, especially at night or in deserted areas, drive off quickly from a stop street or intersection, always heeding traffic danger.
- On long journeys only stop overnight at safe places. Stopping next to the road or in a parking area overnight is not safe.
- Don’t stop at the scene of an accident unless you’re sure it’s genuine.
- Don’t enter your garage or a parking area if you think you’re being followed.
- Don’t stop if a passer-by indicates that, for example, you have a flat tyre or other defect. Drive to a service station or safe area and check it there.
- Don’t leave your car door open and the engine running while opening garages.
